There’s life in the old girl yet…

As I typically do when September finally arrives, I feel I am coming alive once more. The summer shutdown is ending; my heart is once again teased by the delicious muse. I recently found some music whose lyrics sparked an inspirational fire inside me. I find myself in one of those “I want to read everything and write everything” moods. Lyrics are just poetry set to music. My soul is tingling with the desire to create.

Fittingly, I will be attending my first ever book event this weekend. It’s called Margins & Moonlight, and I will be there on Saturday. My luck being true to form, a shipping issue has left me with no physical copies of my books to take and sell. However, I am nothing if not creative. I put together samples of Lollipop Daggers and Darkveil Cemetery: Life After Death, and these will be accessible via QR codes I’ll have displayed at my table. Regardless of a lack of product, I will be amongst other creative types all day with the opportunity to promote my own work. I’ll be surrounded by books and art and inspiration. Excited is an understatement.

If you have been with me awhile, you’ll recognize part of the title for Darkveil Cemetery. Yes, this is the rewritten/revised version of Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery: Life After Death. Same stories with just a few tweaks here and there, new concept for the involvement of Madam Mortis, and this time I am writing what represents me, not what I feel is expected from a pen name. Don’t worry; if you already own the Twisted Libra versions, just reach out to me. I will get you the new versions at no cost. You shouldn’t have to pay extra because I suffered an identity crisis.

I’m currently deciding what I want to read next. I have quite the TBR stack from which to choose, but after binge watching the Interview with the Vampire/The Vampire Lestat shows this past week, I have the itch to give the Anne Rice books another try. I own and have read most of the vampire chronicles, but it never really resonated with me. I’ve since claimed these works overrated. With my current mindset, I feel I am capable of giving them a second chance. Yes, I realize the show is nothing like the books. I admit, the show was better. <gasp!> The changes made sense, and I now consider it one of my favorite shows and plan to rewatch it many times over. If the books had been written like this, I would have burned through them in record time. Right now, I’m about 72% sure I will reread the entire collection. Even Memnoch the Devil, which I found to be the most difficult of them all to finish. We’ll see.

That’s all I have for now, my lovelies. As the summer winds down and we become wrapped in the soft reds, oranges, and yellows of autumn, I hope inspiration finds you as it has yours truly. Stay tuned to my blog and/or my social media for updates about the upcoming book fair, as well as my books.
